Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant unveiled Valencia midfielder Akram Abdul Ghanee as their first signing in mid season transfers. Akram was unveiled as a Blues payers in a press conference held at FAM house today.
“From the beginning of the season jersey number 13 was kept vacant because Akram wanted to join but since his brother’s retiring year he went to Valencia” chairman Balak said introducing Akram.
“Akram’s come back is a huge boost for the team. I have confidence on him”
Balak didn’t disclose the length of Akrams contract but said he will stay as long as the current management is there.
“Aku will stay. As long as I am here, he will stay” Balak said.
Akram expressed his happiness to play with previous team mates.
“Umair and I played for same team for a long time and for a while we played for different teams and I am happy that again I got the chance to play with him."
Akram said that the signing didn’t relate to the position of the club in the league and in AFC cup, but he said the decision was very much based on the future of his career.
“It’s not because New Radiant is in the quarter final of the AFC Cup. But since I am a player who wants to go further in football and after thinking for the future I made the decision”
Balak also said that they are trying to sign one more player before the end of transfer window.
Meanwhile New Radiant coach Popov said he wanted to sign Akram from the very first moment he sees him in the practice and said the team will be stronger with his inclusion.
