U14 departs to Japan

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives U-14 National Team has departed to Japan to take part in a Japanese U-14 Football exchange program. 16 players and four officials are in the team which will play under the guidance of Ahmed Nashid (Naadhu).

The exchange program named “SAARC under 14 Football Exchange Program” is scheduled to take place from today to 20th of October 2012. This program is organized by Japan Football Association (JFA) in association with Japanese Foreign Ministry.

Maldives National U-14 team has been grouped with Nepal, Japanese Football Academy B team, Pakistan and Sri Lanka while the other group features Afghanistan, Bangladesh, JFA academy A Team, Bhutan and India.

Maldives will face Nepal in the opening match on Asoj 23 at Gotemba.

According to media reports, the main purpose of the program is to promote mutual friendship and understanding along with football skills among the young students of SAARC region. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan provided funds for the program.
