Male', MALDIVES - Kuwait SC's Romanian coach Marin Ion described the hammering of New Radiant Sport Club 7-2 in the first leg of the AFC Cup is a normal result as Kuwait SC effectively guaranteed a spot in the semi finals.

Defending Champions Kuwait SC raced to a 6-0 lead in the first half, with four goals from Tunisian national team forward Issam Jemma. Tunisian midfielder Hammami scored two goals and Brazilian striker Rogerio, who was the AFC Foreign player of the year in 2012 also got on the score sheet.

Speaking in the post match press conference Ion admitted that the score line was surprising however considering Kuwait SC is the defending champions he described the result as "normal".

"Ofcourse is a big score. But it could have been more. We saw the difference between the two clubs.

Kuwait team is the champions of Asia. Its (the result is) normal," Ion said. "I am very happy with the performance. The players has displayed the image of the club. The qualification for the next stage is solid."

New Radiants director of football Anwar Ali said that Kuwait SC took advantage of lack of concentration of New Radiant players in the first half.

"They took a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes. Kuwait took advantage of the lack of concentration of our players in the first half," Anwar said.

Anwar said that New Radiant improved their game in the second half, and displayed that they can give a fight to Kuwait SC.

"Of course technically and physically Kuwait is better than New Radiant. However in the second half we played well and proved we can give them a fight. If we had played like that in the first half the result would have been very different," Anwar said.

Remember when we used to play World Cup qualifiers against the likes of China, we would use the line, "They are much taller than us, so it's hard to play against them" excuse. This physical fitness excuse is the one in fashion today. Honestly, FAM should impose a rule which states that every club must have a fitness coach, and that every player should undergo X hours of gym/cardio exercises every week. I don't think there's any other way. I am not a professional athlete, but I feel that I get more hours of exercise than these football players, who attend practice sessions 3-4 times a week, and that's it. Then it's back to their other jobs and sai hotaas during freetimes.

One of the worst performances by a local team in our National Stadium! - The players should take responsibility!

Have you watched an other match than this by local team? if so i doubt that you are speaking truthfully because this isnt the worst performance by a local team. Yea!! everyone beleive that NRSC had a bad day and was stupid in first half. Did you saw how they played in second half? Did you saw how NRSC dominated the game in second half unlike the first half? How many chances did NRSC created and the "asian best and defeating champions created"? I think still they are much worth of thanking hence they have had very hard days and all players are tired after SAFF. Still they did a praise worth job in second half regardless of the result of first thirty mins!! Shame of people like you who dont know to thank!!

Not the worst, one of the worst performances. I don't agree it was exhaustion, if it was they NR couldn't have played as well in the second half; lack of concentration by the players and obviously bad team tactics too is to blame.

I don't know how this is possible but Newradient players and coach underestimated the champions. But unlike urbanyi, popav made changes and got hold of the mess. Hope they do get a better result in the away game. Opportunity lost.
