Male', MALDIVES - Kuwait SC's Romanian coach Marin Ion has said that his side will not concentrate on individual players of New Radiant as the two sides clash in the first leg of AFC Cup quarter final tomorrow.

Defending champions Kuwait Sc are the clear favorites as they face New Radiant in the first leg in Male' tomorrow. However Ion is not likely to take any task easy as they have strong intention to defend the title that they won last year.

New Radiant boasts the best attack in the AFC Cup group stages. Even so Kuwait SC will not concentrate on any individual player of the blues according to Ion.

"I don't trust in individual ability. I believe in the force of the team. Value of individual players go up from the power of the group. The team must play for the individuals to perform," Ion said.

Ion added that even though Kuwait SC are tagged as defending champions, they face no extra pressure to succeed.

"We don't have pressure but we have obligation as champions to respect our opposition. One target of the club this year is to win this tournament again. It will not be easy. We are the champions and we think seriously," Ion said. "Our players will be concentrated for this game. We need a good result. I hope it will be a good show from both teams tomorrow."

Speaking to the media Kuwait SC's captain Jarah Al Ateeq said that tomorrow's match is the first half of the battle and all the players are fully confident that they can get a good result tomorrow.

"First half is tomorrow

They don't really know the New Radiant players. I looked at some of the Kuwaiti/Middle Eastern football forums and they think Kuwait SC got a "very easy" tie, because New Radiant are from Maldives.

Common be realistic…we have just crashed out of tournament because of our overconfidence and relying on a player too much without providing him with the opportunities to score goals. We better should try to play as a team rather than kicking a ball towards him expecting him to do impossible when he is very well marked. We should know how to change the tactics if he is well marked unlike in the game against India when he was very well marked and we did know how to use other strikers upfront. We have to be modest Kuwait team is a very strong team. One question though is: should not we start in a defensive mode and evolve the gameplan as the match progress since we have never played such a strong team before?
