A very poor game in the first half of the match was the only bitter result for new radiant SC. i think just like the Maldives national football team overconfidence from players was the result of the very very poor performance from the first half. Hope New Radiant SC Players are mentally not affected by today's result and also the sad end in the SAFF.

New Radiant coach took huge gamble today with too much importance given to an attacking game and paid the price. for heaven sake they were winners of AFC cup twice, have two very dangerous strikers. Why did not we go for a defensive game, and man-mark these two players as much as possible and go for a counter-attack. Our players did not know their real strength and they were taken unawares as the game progressed and goal poured in. And also it was always risky with three defenders at the back. Our defenders were not able to pick their forwards properly. If we had 4 defenders it would not have been this bad, keeper would not have been exposed to their attack with such intensity. Now we have to go to Kuwait with 5 goal deficit, we don’t know how ruthless they will be with home advantage. A big, costly mistake by coach.

Dude, kuwait fc are the defending champions with some world class players like Tunisian all-time top scorer Jemma and last year's best foreign player in asia, brasil born Rogerio n Tunisian international Hammami. But still Ashfaq managed to score after beating 3 defenders, grabbed a penalty and hit the cross bar aftr beating a couple of their defenders! So he definitely proved why he's rated so highly in this region. No south asian player cud have done that against such a good team who are a class apart. Its jus unfair that we get to play teams from Gulf region only aftr the 2nd round. Afc needs to provide a chance for teams like New Radiant to compete with Gulf teams even in the group stage. Otherwise its gonna b really tough to reach the final. Jus see how teams r grouped in the UEFA champions league.

Popov will have to admit that he made a mistake today in the starting 11. I thought it was very naive, but understandable since New Radiant hadn't played a match against strong Middle Eastern opposition under Popov until today. He appeared to figure out his mistakes and changed things at half-time. I wish the Ghanaian kid Yusuf started the match. He was very energetic and broke up many Kuwait SC attacks when he came on. I think he was an integral part in organizing the defensive discipline in the second half, as well as giving the front players more license to attack, resulting in a much improved display in the second half. I was afraid this could be a 10-0 or worse, but credit where it's due, New came out fighting and put on a spirited display in front of their fans. I hope to see them perform like this in the 2nd leg. Personally, I will be delighted with a 1-0 win, even a draw, as it is now unrealistic to expect them to go through to the semis.

Imma, pretty sure Popov will improve the tem for the second leg and get a much better result. Still, I cannot see NR getting even a draw, possibly a loss by 2-3 goal margin. And that's NR players perform. Gotta say, Good goal by Ashfaq.

No need to blame anyone. We lost because we cannot play "current" style of football anymore with a competitive team. In today's football though a team adopts 3-4-3, it does not mean it has to be always 3 defenders defending. Our midfield should be supporting them. But the truth is that we do not have that physical strength to play such a football. We need to improve our physical fitness/strength, otherwise we can not play "football".

Hehe. This is so funny. All talking about new radiant improving in the second half.I hope you guys understand that the visitors had a healthy lead over the opponent, hence they eased up on the acceleration paddle. You would they want to play in the visitors want to play the second half in the same pace as the first when it was clear that even if new radiant scores 5 times or 6 times still they have the advantage. With the upcoming game at their home. I wonder if new radiant would be able to keep the score line in a one digit number. And the talk about Kuwait being the Champions. How many months did the coach of new radiant have to monitor and prepare his game plane. This is not new all the coaches who come to maldives just buys all the best players in maldives for a year and beat all local teams. But when they come against the real test, sadly they don't Deliver.
