The way the preparation is going for the big tournament, it feels like they are trying to arrange a get-together for an informal tea-party! No strategic planning, with very little faith/belief in evidence!

Well, FAM doesn't want to do too much work. The higher-ups are politicians first, and their mentality is that of politicians. There's a good chance that we are going to win all 3 matches in Seychelles, which would make the fans happy and this will paper over the huge cracks within our national team and bring temporary relief to everyone. It's what politicians do: dupe people into believing that they are their saviours, make them think everything is alright as long as they are at the helm. I would love to know how much time Ilham spent at FAM house during the past month, when he should've been making critical decisions to prepare for the AFC Challenge Cup next year. This month, Kyrgyzstan is playing friendlies against Indonesia, Kuwait, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. It really brings our "preparations" to a whole new level of shame.

See the contrast…. Maldives is gearing up for friendlies with Seychelles while rivals India is playing a friendly with Philippines ranked a lot higher than India at 137. We are playing against Seychelles, a country ranked 9th from bottom at 196…… is that the best FAM could do ?? What purpose would a friendly serve when you have already played with them three times in two years and won on two occasions and are so worse than you in fifa ranking?? National team doesn’t need a friendly for the sake of it. They need more confidence by playing against better team, against countries placed far above them. FAM always seem run with the idea that if you go to Malaysia and play a couple of friendlies with a club side or play a friendly with team you are almost guaranteed to win without much of a challenges, it will do world of good to the national team. Are they of the fear football fans will turn against them if national team lose a friendly by playing against a very good team so they want to play safe???
