Maldives to camp in Thailand

Male', MALDIVES - FAM has decided to camp the national team in Thailand for the preparation of SAFF championship. In the press conference held today in FAM house, Director of National Teams Mr Ali Suzain said that FAM has agreed to the schedule proposed by the coach.

“We are looking for competitive three matches in Thailand. Insha Allah one match will be played against Thailand National Team and other two matches with two strong sides of Thailand”

Suzain noted that the friendlies will be played in close intervals as like SAFF championship schedule.

“Main target of coach is to play three friendlies every other day as like in SAFF championship. If the three matches are planned according to the schedule, the objective of the Thailand camp will be reached.”

National team coach Istavan Urbanyi said that he is happy that most of the national team players has played an international game.

“Management can talk about this more. The trip is under process to finalize. My hope is we can play good matches to prepare for the team. The good thing is in this year almost every national team player played an extra international game in the AFC competition”

“I just want to bring them together. Our last game was in February played against Pakistan. It’s a long time without matches but as I said the good news is 8 or 9 players plays with New Radiant and also Maziya”

Maldives team will return after the friendlies and depart to Nepal on 28th August for SAFF championship. Tournament will kick off on 1st September.

We were going to play 6-8 friendlies before the SAFF Championship according to Ilham. He sounded so confident when he said it.
