Popov has said that Milo Charity Shield match against Maziya will be a good test for them ahead of AFC Cup.

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant’s coach Velizar Emilov Popov has said that Milo Charity Shield match against Maziya will be a good test ahead of AFC Cup.

Speaking at the pre match press conference Popov said he is preparing the team for the upcoming AFC Cup and this match would be a good test for them.

“Maziya is a very strong team and when we face against them we will understand the situation of us and what we need to improve.”

“My target is not just winning this match and I am preparing the team for the AFC Cup. But also I need to start the season with a good result so this match is also important to us.” Said Popov.

On the other hand Maziy a’s coach Ismail Mahefooz (Imma) said that he is happy to play a competitive match against a team like New Radiant before the AFC Cup.

“I am happy to play a competitive match against a team like New Radiant before the AFC Cup. And also it will be a good opportunity for the players.”

Imma also said that even though they have some new players their team is fully prepared for the season.

“Even though we have some new players our team is fully prepared for the season. For sure the best team who performs well in the match will win.”

New Radiant will play against Maziya in the season curtain raiser, MILO Charity Shield, tomorrow night at 2100 hours. The price value of this match is MVR 100,000.

Please end the game at 90 mins. I've hated those season opening matches in the past few years where the players exhaust themselves with extra 30 mins and penalty.
