Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives president Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that the government will give full support for the newly elected president of Football Association of Maldives.

President Waheed attended a function held at Salsa Royal to celebrate the win and said that the government of Maldives will give full support to the newly elected president and his team.

The real question is, how would a guy with absolutely no experience with professional football affect the association?

Actually, it’s a plus point to have a lawmaker as our football association president. It is not a must for the president to have played the sport. Certainly he should be a person who could market the sport, pump more money into sports through sponsorship deals, having the experience and knowledge to manage such an organization and even have full support from the government. In addition, he should be a person with interest and have some amount of money and word power in the country. In my opinion, MP Ilham is a person who has most of these requirements. On contrary, IF our fa president was a footballer in the past, he would be totally uneducated and would not even have minimum capability to manage an organization. For your info: Richard Scudamore (EPL CEO) - Lawyer/Sales Director Paul Tagliabue (Best NFL Commissioner without a lockout!) - Lawyer Roger Goodell (NFL Commissioner) - Economist David Stern (NBA Commissioner(creator of NBA Dress Code) - Lawyer Garry Bettman (NHL Commissioner (creator of the NBA salary cap) - Lawyer Bud Selig (MLB Commissioner) - politician/businessman Reinhard Rauball (President of German Football League) - Lawyer/Politician I have just include some details of people who are leading the biggest and successful leagues in the world (sorry, I don’t take liga bbva successful) because that’s what we want next in here! Thank You.
