New Radiant 3-0 Victory: Blues close to be the champions

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club continues their winning run in the league after beating Victory Sports Club by 3-0 and they are in need of 6 points to defend the league title.

Velizar Popov’s masterly New Radiant side came into this match unbeaten in the league, and though Mohamed Umair’s early opener looked to have set them on course to increase their unbeaten run. Umair scored the opening goal in the 25th minute from a brilliant free kick just outside the box.

Two minutes later Umair supplied another good ball to Ashfaq from the right flank and he pass it to Ali Fasir inside the box, converted it to a goal and increase their margin. Nine minutes later, Ashfaq nicely beat two defenders and shoot it inside the box but it went wide.

Five minute after the break, Ali Umar received Ahmed's cross inside the box, but he couldn't shoot due to pressure of the defender, Ali Umar passed to Niyaz and his one touch shot inside the box goes over the bar.

Ali Ashfaq, the man of steel showed his powerful skills in the 70th minute after beating two defenders of Victory and converted it to a goal, which is his 30th goal of the season.

In the post-match press conference New Radiant’s assistant coach Mohamed Iqbal said that it was not easy to play when the opponent team started to play in their own half.

“It was very difficult to play when the opponents start to play a defending game and today also we faced that. But we are happy that we won the game and we are getting closer to defend the title.”

On the other hand, Victory’s coach Vladimir Goffa said he was more than happy for the performance of his players against a team like New Radiant.

“I am very happy with the performance of my players against a team like New Radiant. Their weakest player is better than our best player and this is the fact.’

He also said that still he has the hope to be in the best 6 teams of the league.
