Male’, MALDIVES – Velizar Popov, who left New Radiant Sports Club on mutual understanding to Omani football club Sur has said that he wants to take four players from New Radiant to Sur.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com Popov said that he will wait till December to finalize the players based on the positions.

“I want four players from New Radiant and I can finalize the players in December when the transfer opens. At the moment we have three foreign players from Egypt.”

Popov who won the treble with New Radiant didn’t mention the names of four players that he need but he said his number one priority is Ali Ashfaq.

“I want Ashfaq but he has got some offers from other clubs and I guess he will choose the best for him.”

Popov has also praised the quality of Maldivian players he has worked with.

“I was very surprised by the purely technical qualities of Maldivian players. Most of them are very technical, fast and flexible. Only they have physical problems in single combat. I can safely say that there are 3-4 players who can easily play in the Bulgarian giants. Not surprisingly Ali Ashfag is one of the best players in the region. He's a great striker with incredible talent.” Popov said to a Bulgarian news agency.

This is a great news for the Maldivian players and also for the fans! I hope that Popov would take a young player like Rilwan, Cause I'm sure that player's like Rilwan will improve a lot if they can get such a chance. Plus it will benefit our national team in the future! (Y)

I agree riley is a very different defender..he can improve if he trains well with a professional league..but the tactical discipline must be professional..

Who would you like to see following Popov? Mine are Ashfaq, Akram, Rilwan, Umair. Rilwan, because he's a young player who can learn a lot, and the other 3 so that they gain a more professional approach to their game by playing in a stronger league every week. It's going to benefit the national team and also open doors for other Maldivians to play in the Middle East.

I think Ashfaq, Umair, Rilwan and Sentey. But he might choose Akram instead of Sentey. And there is a probability of him taking a young player too. Anyway i encourange those who gets the chance to accept it and fully utilize it.

Hope Akram is one amongst the list. He's got the technical skills as well as the experience and discipline.
