Yemen beat Maldives

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives U19 lost their last game against Yemen U19 in the ongoing AFC U19 Championship Qualifying match by 3-0.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com Maldives U19 team manager Ahmed Ayaz said that they were happy with the performance of the team in this tournament.

“In general we are happy with the overall performance in this tournament even though we failed to qualify for the final round.”

Yemen scored three goals against Maldives in today’s game and one was from a penalty.

Ayaz also said that the players were not fit to play in this weather.

“Our players were not fit to play in this weather. The temperature is 13 degrees celcius. But I am really happy with the performance of the boys.”

“We got some chances to score even in today’s game and they scored from the chances they got and one goal was from a penalty.”

Maldives U19 team will return to Maldives on 15th October.

I believe our under 19 tem have done extremely well, much more than many expected, so I raise my hat to you all. In addition to our youths, amongst the SAFF countries, I have to say Bangladesh did very well too but India showed the best performance against the better teams.
